Ask and you shall receive: “Hey girl. I like the library too.”

Two exciting developments this week in the land of Librarians in Pop Culture –

I’m really excited about the Library Boing Boing project. With the website redesign deadline looming, I don’t really have time to do much more than sign the petition and follow its development.  But the aspects I’m most excited about are:

• Help find and propose content about libraries that could be posted to Boing Boing
• Provide active ways for Happy Mutants [folks who read Boing Boing] to support and get involved with their local libraries
• Create dynamic programming at library conferences that Library Boing Boingers can then take outside of the library community to promote libraries (eg, SxSW, local community events, etc.)

And in case you’ve missed it, you must check out the new tumblr Hey girl. I like the library too.  It’s getting a lot of attention, and I really hope it grows beyond the library community.
